Don’t Expect Miracles,
I started taking Irvingia in December of 08. At the time my BMI was 24.2 which is considered to be normal. My pants size was 34. After 5 months, while maintaining my diet and exercise program, I have lost roughly 5 pounds, my BMI is now 23.2, and my pants size is 32 (which is now loose). The biggest change, appetite wise, is less desire to snack between meals or late at night. Prior to starting this product I couldn’t lose any weight or get rid of the fat in my waist. I recommend this product but don’t think it will allow you to lie on the couch and eat donuts while losing weight.
Updated Aug 09: I have now lost 10 pounds, wearing size 31 inch jeans, and my energy levels have increased so that I have been able to double my exercise without feeling the need to eat more calories.
Update Dec 09: In the year I have been taking this product I’ve lost 20 pounds and now have a BMI under 21, more than doubled my exercise without needing to consume more calories, and I’m currently wearing 30″ waist jeans down from 34″. One other thing worth mentioning is that Life Extension sent me some information on this product which stated that using Irvingia in conjunction with a low-carb diet is not recommended. Based on this, keeping eating fruits and veggies rather than choosing steaks and bacon to lose weight when taking this product.

This was recommended by the doctor who also prescribes Armor Natural Thyroid to replace what my own thyroid no longer produces. I needed to lose 70 pounds and even after getting my thyroid issues resolved a few years ago the weight just would NOT come off! I have to be careful about taking anything that will mimic symptoms of over medication such as restlessness, poor quality sleep, elevated blood pressure, nervousness — all things wich most “Diet” meds frequently do. For me, this product has no apparent side effects.
I only lost 1 pound the first month, and because my weight will flucuate a few pounds, I could not be sure I actually lost that — but my constant urge to snack had gone away, so I was optimistic. Month two I lost 3 pounds, and month three an additional 4 pounds – a pound a week with no change in diet!! A total loss of 8 pounds in three months. It is not the 28 pounds the small study produced, but having had no results with anything else I tried, I am quite pleased with this product — especially since the healthy diet I have maintained for the last few years did not have to be altered in any way.

Twenty days ago I began a diet and exercise program that was designed for weight loss of one pound per week. I also took 150 mg Irvingia twice daily as recommended. I should have lost not quite 3 pounds based on calorie intake/exercise; I have actually lost 6 lbs, which is astonishing relative to my age, gender and weight (mid-40s, female, 150 lbs, exercise habit only recent).
Additionally, I test my own blood glucose (I’m not diabetic, just proactive). My peak-after-dinner number is meaningfully lower.
